Man Eats Three Meals a Day at McDonald’s and Loses Weight — Seriously?

Kevin Maginnis’ story sounds absurd, but there is more here than click-bait headlines.

I have seen this movie before. That’s because, in 2004, Morgan Spurlock starred in and produced a Netflix documentary, “Super Size Me.” The multi-million dollar hit charted Morgan’s 90-day trial of eating three meals daily at McDonald’s.

He was 34 years old at the time and gained 20 pounds, had worsening cholesterol, liver function, and blood fats and during the period, suffered from depression, headaches and palpitations. McDonald's got “Bud-lighted” (boycotted) and made operational modifications due to the film’s fallout.

Fast forward 19 years to Mr. Maginnis, a 56-year-old Nashville grandfather. He stated he intended to eat every meal at Mickey D’s for 100 days to lose weight. His starting weight was 238 pounds, he was pre-diabetic, and he says he has lost 33 pounds. He states he is six feet tall and thus, according to the CDC BMI calculator, is obese. In keeping with current cultural habits, he announced the plan on Tik Tok, now trending with over 650K views. He logged 43 days on Thursday, May 31. He also claims his cholesterol is better.
