I share your concerns about commercial dog food. My wife and I discussed cooking for our 7-year old mini Australian Labra Doodle. However, the vet found her to be in the early stages of renal failure and we had to move to a protein restricted diet and limited protein treats. She seems to be doing ok now on Hills’ Science Diet canned dog food for kidney disease. But it does look and smell awful.
