I love cilantro and hate beets. To me they taste like dirt. Now you have provided the reason. I did read somewhere however that in cultures that eat lots of cilantro, like Mexico, even children with the gene that makes it taste like soap, overcome the objection. If true, that would be an interesting battle between environment and hereditary.
