Excellent story. It was the same for me when I retired at age 67 from medicine. It happened when my best friend, a radiologist, died with pancreatic cancer right after he retired. I promised myself this would not happen to me. I had other hobbies but it took years feeling comfotable letting go of my other skin. My persoanl attorney is well into his eighties with zero other interess or hobbies and freely admits he "hopes to die at his desk." The sage words of one man resonates with me, "Few men wish they had spent more time at work on their deathbeds."
