Case rates, and as a consequence mortality rates, are now uselss. Too many people are doing at home tests and those results never make it into public records. Therefore we don't know the extent of true positive and negative cases now of Omicron. The purported mortality rate has been stucck at 1.2% forever and this also is inaccurate due to unknown true positivity rates. As far as lockdowns and masks, I do not agree they failed because not enough people complied. Sweeden didn't do it and their mortality rates ended up similar to other European countries. Even the ultra aggressive WHO stopped supporting lockdowns over a year ago. If locckdowns were the answer, the case rates woiuld be near zero in China which they are not.
