As an avid fisherman for over 20 yearts, mostly in the Gulf of Mexico , I am well aware of this disease. I have eaten all sizes and types of fish from the Gulf and have never been poisoned. I consider myself more lucky than smart however. I don't eat Baracuda although most cig illnesses occur in those from the Caribbean. I limit my intake of large grouper and mackerel due to mercury. Interesting. However, I have known local folks who have come down with the disease.
